Laurent Beyne, founder of the Deux Ailes company, specializes, since 1985 in combining glass and light, matter and gesture, mathematics and poetics.

He is located at the intersection of different unique expertise : both glass worker, a "luminarist", a lighting designer, a sculptor. He considers his daily duties as the sum of an artist, a craftsman and a worker.

His studio is a kind of laboratory where the artist meets the craftsman, the designer encounters the performer, where every movement is an attempt to overcome material, so that the final piece is the result of a long and laborious maturation.

Creativity, inventiveness, freshness, enchantent ability, an almost alchemic control of the materials are the constituent pillars of Laurent Beyne’s identity and Deux Ailes studio.

All parts are entirely made in France in our workshop in Auvergne.

Besides the singularity of poetic writing and his original style, he develops specific expertise and world-exclusive : glass cutting processes, fragmenting glass on silicone film, and flexible mosaics, etc.

"My hands are my wings" is the motto he whispers with a hint of récurrence to whoever wants to hear it . So, from the beginning, the human hand is his main tool, It is an exception to the industrial world that surrounds us.

Laurent Beyne chooses the materials for their exceptional qualities and their durability, their symbolic and enduring characters (natural glass or crystallized, marble, concrete, basalt, granite, silver, gold leaf, semi-precious stones, stainless steel, brass). He transforms them as a real sculptor would and avoids easy solutions such as subcontracting and using imported products.

He considers the luminous object in our living spaces as something sacred, the most precious thing, the most precious because it is the first case of living of the material : the light. For Laurent Beyne, "the lamp, small human sun, is a spiritual and symbolic object in our houses".

Result: the objects it creates place the glass in a unique posture and magnified.
